Solda is located amidst the Ortler Mountains in Stelvio (Stilfser Joch) National Park. The ski area offers
44 km of slopes for experienced skiers and other winter sports enthusiasts. A total of
fourteen 3,000-metre-plus peaks frame the vast glacier beneath Mount Ortler.
The high Alpine ski area of Solda, which has excellent snow coverage, is
open in winter from end of October to the beginning of May. In addition to numerous runs for skiers, including deep-powder slopes for extreme skiers,
freeriders and telemark skiers, there is a small fun park with half pipe and boardercross. Solda offers ski tours in the high mountain areas of 3,000-metre-plus peaks well into spring for those who just can’t get enough of Mother Nature.
Despite its popularity, Solda is a place where the
old traditions are still very much alive and well. A second home to Reinhold Messner,
Messner Mountain Museum Ortles has been located here since 2004.
